From 16th to 18th November, the 20th Annual China Shopping Centre Industry Conference was held in Chengdu. From energy-saving and emission-reducing architectural designs, environmentally-friendly travel sharing spaces, to healthy and green living scenes, the event explored the concept of environmental friendliness in shopping centres throughout the development and operation process; allowing business and natural ecology to blend harmoniously
Green+Ecological business is frequently out of the loop, Singapore is still a model country for business! Today, we take you through Singapore's "green and aerobic" business models from both commercial and residential perspectives
Singapore's green garden spirit is experienced in Singapore Changi, most notably in the following way.
The entire shopping centre is built around a waterfall - the central 'rain vortex' - and is the tallest indoor waterfall in the world (about seven storeys high). The waterfall is not located in the middle of the building due to its connection to the terminal's light rail line, so the upper dome had to be added on top of the original airport building, and each of the triangular glass pieces used to join it was specially made to create the existing unique shape.

The surrounding 'Forest Valley' is a terraced indoor garden, open 24 hours a day, with more than 2,000 trees and 100,000 shrubs from all over the world.

An even more unique experience is found in the five-level Canopy Park area, where the greenery and height create multiple entertainment interactions.
Canopy Park features three iconic attractions: Sky Nets, Canopy Mazes and Discovery Slides, all located in the most prominent locations in the park. The three rides have been designed by world-renowned design teams from the UK, France, Germany, Singapore and the Netherlands, with fun and interactive elements incorporated into the design to give the Gardens a unique appeal. The classic rides are complemented by the lush greenery of the gardens, providing a unique indoor experience in all weathers.
#Nets in the Sky
The Sky Net is Singapore's first large-scale network designed to combine a 250-metre long bungee jumping net and a 50-metre long walking net into one spectacular experience. At the highest point of the bungee netting, visitors can rise 8 metres above the ground (about three storeys high) to experience the thrill. The walkway is suspended 25 metres in the air, allowing visitors to look directly down on the "Starlight Changi" as they stroll around.

# Labyrinth World
The Labyrinth World is a break from the traditional design concept and consists of two 500 sqm mazes of different styles: a hedge-themed maze and a mirror-themed maze. As the largest hedge-themed maze in Singapore, the maze is 1.8m high and features a viewing platform for visitors to get a bird's eye view of the maze, while the mirror-themed maze is designed with mirrors to disorientate visitors as they attempt to exit the maze, making it even more challenging.

# Fantasy Slide
The Fantasy Slide is an eye-catching design that is both a magnificent work of art sculpture in itself and an amusement ride for all ages. It consists of four in one slides: two tube slides and two flat slides. Children and adults alike can experience the fun of the various slides. The slides are also a viewing point, where visitors can choose to stop at the 6.5 metre high platform overlooking the cool, verdant Forest Valley and the magnificent Rain Vortex below them.

# Cloudy bowl-shaped activity area
In addition to the three iconic rides, the Star Garden also features an open area for children to walk and play in the greenery. This consists of four gently sloping bowls ranging from 30 to 65cm in depth, with a light mist spraying around them to create a mystical feeling of clouds and mist.
# Canopy Bridge
The 50-metre-long Canopy Bridge is the best place in the park to see the 40-metre-high rain whirlpool. Suspended 23 metres in the air, it has a glass floor at its centre and offers a stunning view of 'Changi' through the transparent floor.

The Interlace in Singapore is "green" in every sense of the word
The Interlace, as its name suggests, is a landmark, large scale, mixed-use, 1,040-unit condominium complex in Singapore, located on the border of Bukit Merah and Queenstown. A distinctive departure from the typical tower design of densely populated cities, Interlace is a building of irregular blocks stacked on top of each other, and was awarded World Building of the Year at the 2015 World Architecture Festival.
What is interesting about this project is how so many fragmented blocks can be organised into such a high density residential mass, but at the same time ensure privacy and views?
The open spaces between the blocks form a series of internal courtyards as seen in the plan. This results in a full vertical community rather than the monotonous tower developments that are so common in this area.
Nine roof gardens, each with a specific theme, such as the top floor roof garden accessible from the lift core or private terrace, and the sunken garden, level with the car park, result in a multi-layered landscape experience. A large number of residential ancillary facilities are also interwoven into this greenery, providing numerous opportunities for social interaction, recreation and entertainment.
